How could I find a list of some wedding halls on Long Island? All I could find was LIWEDDING.com, which has no Kosher halls on it. They have a search for halls that "offer kosher food," but when I check their menus, they offer clams, shrimp, pork, etc.

Thank you!

Crest Hollow has a kosher caterer and a lot of people use it for weddings, it's near Huntington. In Queens and the Bronx you have Terrace on the Park and Marina Del Ray respectively, but those are pretty expensive.

The Sands is in Atlantc Beach, about a 20 minute drive frm the 5 towns. I got married there as did my sister (we used New star caterers and were very happy)

There is also Crest Hollow, Woodbery Jewish Center, Hunttington Town House and a bunch more

theres also the Best Western. I got married in Beth Sholom (in 5 towns) but its only appropriate for a smaller wedding (a few hundred people)

not anymore! it was sold a few years ago and unless I'm mistaken, I don't think pp are making kosher weddings there anymore.

crest hollow & huntington townhouse are gorgeous, but a bit far out on island, depending where your guests are coming from. about 30 min. east of queens, w/o traffic, I think

the only one I know of is the sands.
I once went to a wedding really really deep into long island I think the city was called hungtington, it was close to Cold Spring Harbor Labs, thats all I know. But IIRC it was about an hour (if not more) from the Five Towns.
most ppl who are making smaller weddings, I think use either the sefardi temple or even beth shalom, and for larger weddings- marina or terrace on the park (both technically in queens)

We're invited to a bar mitzvah in Roslyn which is under the OU. You might contact the hashgocho agency to see if they have a list.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

yc, a few hundred people is a "smaller" wedding??? wow. This wedding will definitely be small then. (Maybe 150 max?)

I'm guessing that most people hire the hall and the caterers separately? That seems like a lot of work so I was trying not to do that.

(btw, I'm looking into this for my good friend. Smile )

A cousin of mine got married at a Sephardic shul in Cedurhurst.
They are not frum but the wedding was kosher.

Either you start by choosing a hall, which either has an in-house caterer or you bring in your own.
Or, you start with the caterer and let them show you the halls where they work.

Sound advice cm, which do you recommend? Starting w/a caterer or starting with a hall?

Also, do all these halls have holes in the ceiling for the chuppah to be under the sky?

Also, who provides the bridal attendant and matre'd etc. (Someone to tell the bridal party where to stand, when to walk, what's next, etc.)

I only have my own wedding experience to go by - while we did look at a few halls on our own, ultimately the caterer we chose suggested a place that turned out to be the one. The catering manager at the facility "directed traffic" during the ceremony, etc.
