Anyone planning on going to the Milano sheitel sale their having now? (You can also get a coupon from their website)

I would like to go if I have time. I would like to get a wavy pony tail sheitel - preferable with the bangs pre-cut. (They have been advertising pre-cuts and I hope the ponys are included) What should I look out for. Like how can I tell if a sheitel will knot, frizz, etc.

I've never been to a sheitel sale and have no clue what to expect.

Also, I'm hoping to go during my lunch break so if I go right when they open you think it will be crowded or I can be out within an hour.

Thanks.

I went to the one in Monsey today @ Atrium Plaza. I guess every community will be different, but I got there a little after they opened and there were about 30 women there give or take during the hour I spent there. There was a coatrack-type thing with precuts displayed on sheitel heads, and the rest of them were arranged on tables in piles according to color. And there was certainly plenty of stock. It was kind of fun actually to just pick up whatever you wanted and try it on, without a sheitel macher hovering over you. If you don't want too much "guidance," a sale like this is actually nice. There were three women there from the MacDonald Ave. salon, and although a stylist was supposed to come, he couldn't make it. So they were doing touch ups for $25 and one girl was doing spray wet / blowouts, but she said if you wanted it cut they could take it and precut it and then do a $25 touch up on you in the salon. It was pretty much self-serve, but they chose a good location (Ace Flooring's old space) that had a series of full-length mirrors on the walls all along, so there was plenty of trying-on space.

Everything was included in the sale and they had a price chart according to sale, regular price, and with coupon. I didn't try on the ponies, although I've tried them previously, because they use Asian hair for those, so I'm thinking if I ever do it I'd prefer better-quality hair. But it's really a matter of devoting time, since you have to wade through everything there, and there might be two piles of the same color in two places. I think you'd either have to get very lucky, as I did, or plan to spend at least an hour. With each one, you have to evaluate the color, the hair quality, the cap quality (I've seen them from Milano with a patch sewn in very badly that sent a chunk of hair in the wrong direction), how it looks on you, comfort, etc., with not a whole lot of help. And wavy ones are always more difficult, since being thrown into a box doesn't do the wave any good. I can't imagine you could get a good sense of how those would look on you, since the style has been so damaged in transit, and I actually was looking at a wavy SL8, but couldn't tell because of that. I ended up with a SL8 straight in an 8 color, with a closed stretch cap ("HM" for handmade, I assume, in Milano-ese). It was $550 with the coupon (no precut) and I did the payment plan, which is 25% down, and the rest over 6 months on the card, with an additional $5 service charge per month. You can have them charge you on the 5th or 20th of the month. With a plan, it was doable for me. I wanted something I didn't have to cut right away, and the long layers were all I needed.

I wish I could help you more as far as how not to get a sheitel that will frizz or knot, but girls who have had these issues might be more of assistance.

Hope I've given you worthwhile info. Happy shopping! Queen

Try to take someone with you. There are some great finds there, but you don't want to end up with a lemon. My sister helped me pick one out. Once I got more experience, I helped my next sister out in the summer.
Good luck!

I didn't get anything. I was very similar to what you described but not so many mirrors and not so many woment. The pony tail sheitel was only $25 less then normal. I had such a hard time deciding what was good or not. I also tried on some pre-cuts. I decided in the end I'd rather pay the full price and have someone stand behind it.
