Masada sound & light show?

What is it like to drive from the side that has the night show to the side that has the snake path, at night? Is it a difficult drive, or are the roads well lit and it is very straightforward.

I noticed that the show in August begins at 8PM and we currently have reservations for the hostel on the other side of masada (near the snake path).

I'm just a bit nervous about the drive back to the hostel when the show is over, should I be? (we will have a rental car)

We had hoped to go to the night show, and then take the cable car up when it opens the next morning.

Should we change our reservations to stay on the other side of masada?

Are both sides of masada the same hour from Yerushalayim? And from both sides does it take 2 hours to get to Eilat? (we are heading to eilat the following morning)

Is the masada sound/light show really good? I guess I'm most concerned about the drive in the dark from Arad back to the other side. Should we switch our reservations to stay near arad? Should I be concerned for 'safety' near there and then the drive to Eilat the following morning and then hit the dead sea/ein gedi on the way back from eilat?
