| I just got on WIC and the only formula they allow is Nestle Good Start. Only the soy version has a hechsher. I called the OU and they said that the milk-based formula was made with a pig's intestine, and that it was bottul bishishi. Does anyone know if there is a way to get WIC to allow another brand of formula? If not, should I just use the soy version, or is it better to ask my Rav about the appropriateness of using the milk-based version? I always heard that you should use a milk-based formula unless the baby cannot tolerate milk.

| how often are you using the formula? if its once in a while I use soy. every day I would use a milk based, ask your rabbi and doctor see what they say

| Thats not true. wic allows enfamil dairy formula

WIC is run by the state (maybe it's not even the same in all areas of the state), and each place allows different things (or doesn't).
