I thought about a toothbrush, I'm just not sure that with the design of my ring it would reach all the crevices...

I worked with diamond jewellery for a number of years, best way to clean a diamond ring is either vodka on the rocks (vodka with ice) the alcohol cleans it, or a soft bristled toothbrush and some fairy liquid, gently brush the ring, it sparkles something beautiful!!

soak your diamond in ammonium for about a half hour then scrub with toothbrush. It will come out sparkling. I learned this from a friend of mine who used to work in the diamond district.

I haven't tried this, but for your diamond rings, I read somewhere that using efferdent--yes denture cleaner--can work for cleaning your ring. Just plop the tablet into warm water and put your ring in there for a few minutes...

you can def. use ammonia in a cup for a few hours or overnight.

you might want to get an ultrasonic; I love mine.

but again, there's nothing like a professional cleaning! for all your jewelry!

I tried the toothbrush, it cleaned alot but not all. (Its a very intricate antique ring)
I'm going to try the vodka (my husband hates it anyways. Might as well put it to some good use)....I'll let you know how it works.
Thanks for all the ideas!

I laughed when I heard fairy liquid Smile
my hubby said ammonia shud b v diluted or it will eat up the gold
(he's a jeweler)
DON'T USE AMMONIA FOR ANY OTHER STONES BESIDES DIAMONDS diluted soap and water with toothbrush works pretty well,
if u scrub hard with toothbrush check to make sure the stone isnt loose.
if ur diamond ring is really dirty u can use draino - only on diamonds, drop it in there for a little while then scrub clean with toothbrush
